Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen is taking action to support fire-related first responders with PTSD with drum therapy.

Allen and Susan Farren took to Instagram Live to share the news and detail how drumming can help the mind and brain ‘rewire’ in a positive way. The rocker encouraged his fans to donate, assuring them that all contributions would fund workshops and training sessions for first responders and their families, in partnership with First Responders Resiliency, Inc.

According to the website, The Raven Drum Foundation believes that healing happens through mindful learning and community connection. Their experience shows that when music, intention, and healing wisdom combine with science and psychology, they help balance mental and emotional states. The foundation also focuses on supporting first responders and their families as they recover and reset from the challenges of their work.

In recent years, the Raven Drum Foundation has stepped up its fundraising and awareness efforts through both online and in-person events. The annual ’12 Drummers Drumming’ has featured items donated by stars like Taylor Swift, Nikki Sixx, Chad Smith, Stewart Copeland, Jon Bon Jovi, Zac Hanson, STYX, and more.

In 2023, Rick Allen and Lauren Monroe hosted multiple events, including one at Matt Sorum’s GoodNoise Studio in Palm Springs, California, and the Mountain Rhythm Reset in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. RDF also teamed up with Chateau Diana Winery to release a special wine line inspired by Monroe’s songs, with artwork created by the couple.
