Dee Snider Responds To A Joke About Rick Allen Losing His Arm

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider recently posted a tweet to share his ideas and thoughts about a user’s joke concerning Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen. Snider emphasized that Allen would have laughed at this joke and responded in a funny way like Snider if he had seen it before him.
As you probably know, Rick Allen had a terrible car accident with his then-girlfriend Miriam Barendsen on December 31, 1984, while trying to surpass another car at high speed. The drummer lost control, and the car hit a stone wall. His arm was seriously injured and was ultimately amputated. Rick Allen was so devastated that he considered quitting his past as Def Leppard’s drummer.
However, Allen realized that he should move on despite this tragic accident and developed his own way of playing using a special drum kit. Both Def Leppard members and fans appreciated his performance and passion for playing. The drummer always stated that losing his arm was a blessing, as everything changed after that. Thus Dee Snider thinks that Rick Allen wouldn’t have a problem with a joke about his arm.
Recently, a Twitter user shared a joke about Rick Allen, saying that he was listening to Twisted Sister while playing drums in his car, but when he lost a stick, he started listening to Def Leppard, which was a reference to Allen playing the drums with his one arm. Even though some people found it very harsh, Dee Snider stressed the drummer’s optimistic personality and said he probably wouldn’t consider the joke an insult.
The user’s tweet read:
“I was playing air drums in my car to Twisted Sister. I lost a stick out the window and had to switch to Def Leppard.“
Snider responded:
“Good call!”
A fan added:
“Too soon…”
The Twisted Sister frontman replied:
“I promise you Rick Allen would laugh his ass off! (Not that too!)”
