David Lee Roth Fires Back At Gene Simmons

Former Van Halen lead singer David Lee Roth shared a post on his official Twitter page and clapped back at KISS bassist Gene Simmons‘ recent statement with a pretty straightforward answer. The singer shared a picture of a kid holding a middle finger up and simply captioned that it’s from him to the KISS’ demon.

As some of you right recall, Diamond Dave was announced as the opening act for the 2020 North American leg of KISS’ final concert tour, ‘The End of the Road World Tour.‘ Following his performances throughout February and March, the tour was put on a hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

KISS hit the road once again after a year of postponement and performed their first show on August 18, 2021, at Xfinity Center, Mansfield. While fans were thrilled to see the band after months of waiting, their eyes searched for the band’s supposed opening act, but David Lee Roth was nowhere to be found.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gene Simmons announced that the former Van Halen singer is no longer the support act for the rescheduled U.S. leg of the farewell tour. While breaking the news, the KISS bassist criticized Roth’s performance and said he isn’t the frontman he used to be.

Although his opinion started off understandable, Simmons actually carried the matter into a whole other dimension and resembled current David Lee Roth to ‘bloated naked Elvis’ which came off pretty wrong, according to fans. After Simmons stated that he would like to remember Elvis in his heyday, he clearly implied Roth isn’t in his best shape and nobody, including him, liked seeing him onstage.

According to Rolling Stone, Simmons said:

“It bears noting that during Dave’s heyday, nobody did what he did. He was the ultimate frontman. Not Robert Plant, not Rod Stewart, nobody. He took being a frontman way beyond anything. And then, I don’t know what happened to him… something. And you get modern-day Dave. I prefer to remember Elvis Presley in his prime. Sneering lips, back in Memphis, you know, doing all that. I don’t want to think of bloated naked Elvis on the bathroom floor.”

Since criticizing his performance is one thing, and looking down on his is another, fans were waiting for a reaction from Diamond Dave and he recently delivered. The vocalist shared a picture on his official Twitter page in which there was a boy holding his middle finger up.

While it was pretty clear that finger was meant to be for no other than Gene Simmons, Roth didn’t hold himself back and captioned his name. It was inevitable for the wild singer to respond to such statements, especially coming from another musician with whom he shared the same stage while touring. Many fans supported DLR’s reaction and the feud’s future seems to be filled with more drama.

The writing on the picture reads:

“Roth to Simmons.”
