David Crosby Explains Why Neil Young Hates Him And Reflects On Possible CSNY Reunion

The co-founder of the Byrds and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, David Crosby, and other former members of CSNY revealed the reason why the band will never reunite. They explained the reasons behind it during the interview with CBS This Morning’s Anthony Mason as a celebration of the 50th year anniversary of ‘Déjà Vu.’
As you may know, ‘Déjà Vu,’ was the second studio album of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young which was released on March 11, 1970. The album gained great popularity and commercial success by selling millions of records all around the world. It also took place in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. In spite of this success, almost every member of the band had been through hard times while they were recording it.
Around the time they were recording the album, David Crosby’s girlfriend, Christine Hinton was killed in a car crash while Stephen Stills ended his relationship with Judy Collins, and Graham Nash had difficult times with his lover, Joni Mitchell. Crosby recalled all these hard times saying that the recording process gave him a reason to live. Stills also described that moment as chaotic. Nash stated that he wanted the fans to feel what they had felt during the recording.
For the promotion of the 50th-anniversary edition of their iconic album ‘Déjà Vu’ which was released on May 14, 2021, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash separately interviewed Anthony Mason. They not only told the process of recording the album but also their personal relationships with each other. All three of them clearly highlighted that the band won’t play the album again. Nash stated that Stills, Nash and he get along with each other very well but they aren’t friends with Crosby anymore.
Also, Crosby approved this statement saying that he doesn’t expect to be friends with them. According to David, he can’t be a friend of Graham, and Neil hated him because of what he said about his girlfriend at that time. Crosby also added that he wishes he wouldn’t have said these things to Neil. Even though they can’t be friends with each other anymore, their music will be listened to by their fans forever.
Here’s what Nash said:
“Stephen and Neil and I are great. We talk often. We don’t talk to David.”
“You know, when that silver thread that connects a band gets broken, it’s very difficult to glue the ends together. It doesn’t quite work. And so, things that happened to me in David’s life broke that silver thread, and for the life of me, I can’t put it back together.“
Here’s what Crosby said:
“I don’t expect to be friends with Graham at any point. Neil hates my guts. Why? I said bad stuff about his girlfriend.”
