Dave Grohl Is Working On The First Taylor Hawkins Tribute Show With Geddy Lee And Alex Lifeson

Drummer Omar Hakim shared an Instagram post saying that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl continues to prepare the first Taylor Hawkins Tribute Show, which will feature Rush icons Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.

Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away in March 2022 while on tour with Foo Fighters in Bogotá, Colombia. Although the reports said that various substances were detected in his system at the time of his death, details about the exact cause have not been released. Following the drummer’s sudden death, his bandmates, Foo Fighters fans, and numerous musicians paid tribute to Hawkins with touching words expressing their sadness.

His Foo Fighters bandmates also took action and decided to organize a tribute show for the late musician. It will consist of two tribute events, the first at Wembley Stadium in London on September 3, 2022, and the second at the Forum in Los Angeles on September 27. The special events will feature performances from many prominent artists such as Liam Gallagher, Travis Barker, Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and more.

Drummer Omar Hakim shared an Instagram post showing that he, Dave Grohl, Geddy Lee, and Alex Lifeson were hanging out in a restaurant. Hakim wrote in the caption that they’ve been getting ready to deliver the first Taylor Hawkins Tribute Show in London. He also said they were excited and honored to work with the two Rush icons and couldn’t wait to be on the stage together.

Omar Hakim’s Instagram post read:

Getting ready for the first Taylor Hawkins Tribute Show in London! So fun for Dave and I to rehearse with Geddy and Alex of Rush!”
