DMC is back with his hot takes! The rapper not only placed AC/DC in the top three spots of the best bands but gave his two picks from the ‘Back in Black’ album, which he called the pure perfection and the only album you need when stranded on an island. Let’s go over Darryl McDaniels’ picks.
“The first album would definitely have to be AC/DC’s ‘Back in Black,’” revealed DMC to AXS TV for his pick for one of the best albums. “Not just for the title song, but there are two songs in there that definitely should have AC/DC in the conversation of who’s the best. The Beatles or the Stones, now you can put Queen in there; you can put Led Zeppelin in there, too, but AC/DC seems to get lost. But two songs on the ‘Back in Black’ phenomenal album put them right up there, maybe in the top three.”
He continued, “One of the songs is so perfect and beautiful; it’s called ‘You Shook Me All Night Long.’ The riff, the flow, the harmony, just everything about that, that’s a perfect rock and roll song. But the other record that sums up the greatness of AC/DC is ‘Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution’ baby. Go listen to that. I can listen to that ‘Back in Black’ album over and over, start to the end; that could be the only record on the island.”
If you’re not familiar with DMC’s hot take, that’s the perfect time to give the album a listen. As Darryl said, it’s an album full of gems from top to bottom. If you’re looking to get a taste of the album, his two picks, besides the title track, will probably make you an instant fan of the 1980 record.
