Corey Taylor Admits His New Slipknot Mask Is Very Disturbing And Hard To Look At
Slipknot frontman and songwriter Corey Taylor sat with Andy Hall from the radio show Des Moines to talk about the band’s evolution of masks and confirmed that the new mask he is working on is way too disturbing to look at and added it may be his favorite one out of all.
As many of you may know that Slipknot’s masks have always been a worldwide phenomenon. The masks that they have worn during their live performances were both admired and scared off by the fans. The band’s masks were originally designed and made by the founder of the band Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan.
Slipknot members also follow a mask cycle in which they change and re-design their masks for every album. Their new masks for the latest album ‘We Are Not Your Kind‘ were got positive reviews from the fans. Recently, it was confirmed by Crahan that the band is working on new pieces for a new studio album.
In a conversation on the radio with Andy Hall, the frontman Corey Taylor talked more about the band’s upcoming masks. He said that it is important that the masks reflect the overall atmosphere of the album and who they come across as in the music. He also mentioned that his new mask definitely will be hard to look at and will have devil-may-care kind of terror to it.
Here is what he said during the talk with Hall:
“The mask has been a part of us forever. The mask is king. And for us, especially people like me and Clown and the guys in the band that really allow those masks to evolve, it’s important for it to be a reflection of who we are in that music. And I can tell you that the mask I’m working on is very disturbing. It’s gonna be hard to look at.
And it’ll probably be my favorite mask that I’ve ever put together. It’s little bits and pieces of things that have intrigued me, of masks that I’ve had in the past. And it’s gonna have a devil-may-care kind of terror to it, let’s put it that way.”
