Chris Shiflett Says Foo Fighters Fans’ Reaction To Taylor Hawkins Tribute Hit Him

Losing a bandmate is always hard, but the Foo Fighters members were not the only ones who mourned Taylor Hawkins‘s passing, as their fans also lost their beloved rocker. Chris Shiflett reflected on losing Hawkins while speaking to William Hill’s ‘Stripped’ podcast and disclosed how their audience’s reaction to the tribute shows impacted him.

Taylor Hawkins’ unexpected death in late March shocked and deeply saddened his friends, family, and fans. However, the tribute shows organized by the late drummer’s family and bandmates helped fellow rockers and fans bid farewell to the talented musician. The audience’s reaction significantly impacted Shifflet, who recalled the day after the performance.

“It was a really, really emotional experience, especially the morning after waking up and reflecting on it,” said Chris about his retrospective feelings regarding the show. “On the day and throughout the show, I just tried to put my head down and focus on what we were doing.”

He continued, “When you see how the fans reacted to it, not just in the stadium but all around the world, it hits you. Obviously terrible circumstances, but a beautiful show and tribute.”

Taylor’s memory was honored by several rockers, such as Brian May, the remaining Rush members, Lars Ulrich, and Wolfgang Van Halen, who took the stage and performed for hours. Even though the show aimed to enable the drummer’s family, friends, and fans to say goodbye, Chris Shifflet remarked that it was still a beautiful show.
