Chad Smith Says John Frusciante Is So Dedicated To New Red Hot Chili Peppers Album

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith told Rolling Stone in an interview that John Frusciante is fully dedicated to the band’s upcoming album.

As you may know, Red Hot Chili Peppers has been working with John Frusciante as their guitarist. Frusciante performed his first show with RHCP in 1988 and recorded the albums ‘Mother’s Milk’ and the band’s first major success ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik.’ However, he felt under pressure after their increasing popularity and left the band during a tour in 1992.

In 1998, Frusciante rejoined RHCP after Dave Navarro’s departure. He then released several successful albums with the band but left again in 2009 to focus on his solo career. Back in 2019, the guitarist excited the fans with his return as a replacement for Josh Klinghopper. After the good news, RHCP made the fans even happier by announcing a new album with Frusciante in 2020.

RHCP’s plans to record the album were sadly delayed due to the pandemic. However, their producer Rick Rubin confirmed in a 2021 interview that they have almost completed the album. Rubin also revealed that he even cried upon seeing the band back together with Frusciante.

On the other hand, the band’s drummer Chad Smith gave a new interview to Rolling Stones in which he talked about Frusciante’s return. Smith stated that John is so dedicated to the album and is working so hard to better it. The drummer then said they are all working hard on the album, but Frusciante brings his magic.

Chad Smith told Rolling Stone on Frusciante that:

“He’s so dedicated. He’s so into it and he’s working so hard. We’re all working hard, but he’s in there with all the overdubs and the magic that he brings.”

The upcoming Red Hot Chili Peppers album will be their first with John Frusciante since their 2006’s ‘Stadium Arcadium.’ Therefore, the fans are waiting patiently for the release to see Frusciante’s contributions.
