Former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick recently shared an update on his recovery process after undergoing open heart surgery. He revealed challenges with his guitar playing abilities in a post on Facebook.
The guitarist opened up about his first attempt to play guitar in nearly a month and his ongoing recovery journey.
“Yesterday was the first day in 24, that I played guitar,” Kulick said. “It was wonderful to hold and hear it resonate on my body. My fingers worked well, but calluses are not quite formed yet. Music and guitar playing are a part of me. Now that it’s time to not just be a patient, but to be me again.”
Kulick also expressed gratitude for the support he has received during his recovery period.
“I am very pleased with the progression of my 2-month recovery,” he continued. “Thanks again for your kind support. And a special thank you to my loving wife, Lisa. She’s been incredible taking care of me!”
The update marks a significant milestone for the veteran guitarist. He has been a prominent figure in the rock music scene for decades.
Kulick served as KISS’s lead guitarist from 1984 to 1996. He played a crucial role during one of the band’s most productive periods. During his tenure with the legendary rock group, he contributed to several studio albums including Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade, and Revenge. His guitar work helped define KISS’s sound throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s.
