Placebo frontman Brian Molko is under investigation for publicly criticizing the Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni.

Molko commented during the band’s set at the Sonic Park festival in Stupinigi. During the show, the frontman called the prime minister fascist, racist, and a piece of sh*t. The moment was recorded by a listener and shared on Twitter.

Following the show, prosecutors in Turin opened an investigation against Molko. Due to the comment, Placebo is now encountering political resistance to their scheduled performance in Sassari on August 1st. Italian prosecutors are investigating Molko for violating the country’s law against public defamation of the republic. The frontman could face a fine of up to 5,000 euros if found guilty.
