Brian May Underwent An Eye Surgery And Revealed His Current Health Status
Queen lead guitarist Brian May shared a post on his official Instagram page revealing before and post-surgery pictures after having eye surgery in order to improve his focus and vision, luckily, the legendary guitarist looks amazing in both photos and feels healthy as well.
As many of you might know, Brian May had an unfortunate series of illnesses after experiencing a small heart attack in May 2020 which required the insertion of three stents into three blocked arteries. The iconic guitarist stated that it was 40 minutes of pain and tightness in his chest which wasn’t as bad as his fans may think, and didn’t end up harming May ant further thanks to his surgeon who successfully performed the surgery.
Here is what May said:
“It was about 40 minutes of pain in the chest and tightness, and that feeling in the arms and sweating, not something that did me any harm. I had a wonderful, wonderful surgeon, and I’m so grateful to be alive, I had three stents in me, which are working just fine, and I feel good.”
While many fans may think having a heart attack was the worst experience Brian May had, he later revealed it was the following stomach hemorrhage that occurred due to the medication. The Queen guitarist strictly stated that the pain was incredibly intense and way worse than having a heart attack.
Due to the fact that Brian May scared his fans quite a few times for the past year, his recent post on his official Instagram page also worried them after seeing May in a hospital gown ready for surgery. Fortunately, May was only in the hospital for eye surgery in order to improve his sight, focus, and vision which was a relief to his fans.
Here is what Brian May said:
“One Vision! All prepped and waiting … for a little bit of eye surgery. I’m in good hands. No need to worry. All in a day’s work … it should really improve my focus – AND my stereoscopic vision. It’s a Piece o’ Cake … eeek! Bri”
Two hours later, Queen icon shared another photo from the hospital on his official Instagram page revealing a post-surgery picture with a mirror selfie revealing the eyepatch on his face. Thankfully, May looked better than ever and also stated that it felt like nothing at all despite only having a local anesthetic for this 20-minute long procedure. In addition to this, Brian May thanked all the hospital staff as well as his doctor Robin Hamilton for taking care of him before, during, and after his procedure.
Here is what Queen guitarist said:
“And …. all done !! I really didn’t feel a thing. It was all done with local anesthetic and a tiny bit of sedation – So I was conscious throughout the whole thing – and fascinated by this amazing procedure. Only about 20 mins. The patch stays on until tomorrow morning. It’s an iPatch! So obviously I’ll soon have to take it off and put it back on again! Big thanks to my eye surgeon the brilliant Robin Hamilton, and my anesthetist Con, and all the lovely folks at the London Clinic who have taken care of me so kindly. Bri”
