During a recent chat with The Times, Debbie Harry revealed where she finds ‘big, strong men.’
“Home Depot is where I do all my flirting,” the Blondie singer shared. “There are some big, strong men there. I found somebody there I thought was really sexy.”
She continued, “He was working in the garden department. But he was busy. We just sort of looked at each other and did that [look].”
In the same interview, Harry also talked about dating at 79. When asked if she was in a relationship, she replied, “No! God forbid! I’m terrified. No, I’m kidding, but I don’t think [being in a relationship] is possible. Do you?”
The rocker, who was once with Chris Stein from Blondie, said she wasn’t ready for online dating. After hearing about the celebrity app Raya, she agreed to try it.
Harry was in a relationship with Stein but they broke up in 1987 and stayed friends. They both used drugs during their time together. In his memoir ‘Under a Rock,’ Stein shared a story about how he and Harry almost got caught with drugs.
He mentioned that drugs, including cocaine and heroin, were common at the time. They learned a method of smoking heroin called ‘chasing dragons,’ and once helped a neighbor who had been beaten by smoking heroin with him. He also recalled a memory from one of Blondie’s tours.
The musician revealed, “At one point in one of the eternal Blondie tours, everyone was about to travel from Switzerland to Paris. Somebody in Zurich had given Debbie and me a bunch of heroin. As we were boarding the plane, after Debbie, Clem, and I went through the metal detector, one of the crew guys right behind us had a metal container of hashish in his shirt pocket that set off the alarm and he got nabbed.”
Stein then recalled almost getting caught with drugs. He and Debbie stayed on the plane while others dealt with security. They flushed most of the drugs, hiding a small amount in Debbie’s pants. They landed in Paris without being checked and enjoyed the day while the others were delayed.
