Armstrong revealed his intentions to branch out when asked what’s in the plans for his career. “I don’t have anything planned right now,” he said. “I would love to do some shows with Pinhead Gunpowder, who put out a record this year also. That’s been something we’ve been waiting to do for over 15 years now. So, I think that’s the only thing I’d really like to do right now.”
Armstrong also emphasized his enjoyment of varied musical experiences. He explained how they benefit his overall approach to music.
“I like being busy and I like having fun playing music, like being in a cover band and doing The Coverups with my friends,” he continued. “So, hopefully I’ll do more of that. I think it keeps me from being completely locked in on doing Green Day all the time. It kind of reduces the pressure.”
Armstrong’s desire to explore different creative outlets reflects his long-standing involvement in projects beyond Green Day’s mainstream success.
