Avril Lavigne On Receiving A Letter From Paramore’s Hayley Williams

After spending a busy year surrounded by pop-punk energy, Avril Lavigne commented on the scene’s current state in an interview with Billboard. When it came to the last festival she attended, When We Were Young, she talked about the encouraging and kind letter Paramore’s Hayley Williams wrote to her after the shows.

“It was awesome being a part of the When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas and being able to connect with some of my friends that I’ve known my whole life, like All Time Low and Travis Clark from We the Kings,” said the musician remembering the festival. “It was also incredible to see the pop-punk genre reconnected with its original audience and also reaching a newer, younger demographic.”

She continued, “Afterward, Hayley Williams from Paramore wrote me a really kind letter, saying some really nice things and thanking me for paving the way for young women like her. That was so cool to read. And for anyone looking to join the pop-punk world in the future, I’d say to you, ‘Welcome to the scene. It’s a wild ride.’”

When We Were Young was first initiated in 2017. This year it took place in Winchester, Nevada, and at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds late last October. When the announcement was made, tickets sold out very quickly. The highly anticipated lineup included names such as Bright Eyes, Alkaline Trio, and Bring Me the Horizon. Headliners were My Chemical Romance and Paramore.

Avril Lavigne, who was also included in this year’s lineup, is having a really busy year. The Pop-punk Princess spent the year touring with Machine Gun Kelly. She also released her new album, ‘Love Sux’ and announced a new song that she will collaborate with Yungblud. The musician, who seems quite excited about the revival of the pop-punk scene now, will tour Europe in the spring.
