Sepultura guitarist Andreas Kisser recently opened up about his future career plans following the band’s ongoing farewell tour. He shared his thoughts in an interview with Metal OBS.
The guitarist discussed his various creative possibilities and artistic ambitions beyond his time with the legendary metal band.
“I’m not gonna stop, of course, doing music. I have so many ideas, but I didn’t decide yet where to go. I still wanna enjoy the moment, enjoy the tour, enjoy the very last run that we have this year. But I have many possibilities,” Kisser said.
He elaborated on his desire to explore new creative territories and artistic mediums.
“Maybe [I will] do another album myself or try something different. I wanna explore different worlds. I’m going more to the art world, like painting and mixing music with colors and stuff. And it’s interesting, to try to go to different places,” he continued.
Kisser emphasized his intention to pursue a completely different path from his Sepultura experience.
“I don’t wanna find another world that is the same as Sepultura. I already did [all that] during Sepultura. So I’d like to absorb more ideas and to be aware of new possibilities and see what happens. But now I’m very focused of what we doing today and the [last few months of the] tour,” he concluded.
The guitarist remains focused on completing Sepultura’s farewell tour before making any definitive decisions about his next chapter.
Kisser’s reflections come as Sepultura prepares for the end of an era that has spanned over three decades of influential metal music.
The band’s decision to call it quits stems from multiple factors that have weighed heavily on the remaining members. Louder Sound reported that Kisser cited the relentless album-tour cycle, their reluctance to top their critically acclaimed 2020 album Quadra, and the profound impact of his wife Patricia’s death from cancer in 2022 as key influences in their farewell decision.
The farewell tour will culminate in a final show scheduled for São Paulo later in 2026. This will mark the end of Sepultura’s remarkable journey. However, Louder Sound revealed that the band’s founding members Max and Iggor Cavalera have declined invitations to participate in this historic final performance. They chose not to be part of the band’s closing chapter.
Despite the emotional weight of ending Sepultura, Kisser’s artistic vision extends far beyond traditional music boundaries. His interest in combining music with visual arts, particularly painting, represents a natural evolution for an artist who has spent decades pushing creative limits within the metal genre.
The guitarist’s openness to exploring “different worlds” and his emphasis on absorbing new ideas suggests that while Sepultura’s story may be ending, Kisser’s artistic journey is far from over. His commitment to avoiding anything that resembles his previous work indicates a genuine desire for creative reinvention in whatever projects he pursues next.
