Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith discussed the band’s upcoming tour plans during a recent interview with SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk.
“It should be great. A completely new setlist,” Smith said. “We’ve been doing [‘The Future Past’] thing for the best part of three years, so it’s a completely new set. I think the fans are gonna absolutely love it.”
“We’ll be starting rehearsing in a couple of weeks,” he continued. “It’s just getting ready for it and going out again. I can’t wait, really.”
Smith reflected on the modern reality of live performances: “After the first show, it’ll be all over the Internet. Everyone’s gonna know the setlist, everyone’s gonna know what it looks like, everyone’s gonna know the fuckups we made. That’s just the way it is now. But it’ll be special, I think.”
The announcement signals a significant transition period for the legendary metal band, particularly in their drumming lineup.
DrummerWorld revealed Simon Dawson’s confirmation as Iron Maiden’s new touring drummer. He will take over the position previously held by Nicko McBrain.
AXS TV reported McBrain’s retirement from touring after 42 years with the band. This marked a significant milestone in the band’s history.
Dawson’s experience includes previous work with Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris in his side project British Lion. This background makes him an ideal fit for the band’s dynamic.
Classic Rock 93.1 highlighted the tour’s significance as part of Iron Maiden’s 50th-anniversary celebrations. The band will perform at stadiums, festivals, and arenas across Europe. The opening show is set for May 27, 2025, in Budapest.
