A Perfect Circle’s New Album Depends On Maynard James Keenan’s Free Time, Billy Howerdel Says

A Perfect Circle guitarist Billy Howerdel recently spoke to Metal Injection and stated that he is waiting for a gap in Maynard James Keenan‘s busy schedule for a new album with the band.

Billy Howerdel started working with Maynard James Keenan when they formed A Perfect Circle in 1999. The band released their debut album, ‘Mer de Noms,’ on May 23, 2000. Featuring several hits like ‘Judith’ and ‘3 Libras,’ written by Howerdel and composed by Keenan, the record gained a high-charting debut for a rock band.

Later, the group’s second album, ‘Thirteenth Step,’ arrived in 2003, followed by the third one, ‘Emotive,’ released in 2004. It took fourteen years for their next album, ‘Eat the Elephant,’ to drop due to the band members’ occupation with other projects. Besides A Perfect Circle, Billy Howerdel has an active career with his solo project Ashes Divide, whereas Maynard James Keenan fronts Tool and Puscifer, along with handling his winery business.

Thus, it doesn’t seem easy for them to produce anything in a short time. When asked about the possibility of a new Perfect Circle album or tour, Billy Howerdel replied that it is hard to organize all these details related to their busy schedules. The guitarist said it is all up to Maynard James Keenan since Howerdel is there whenever he is ready.

The rocker waits for Keenan to arrange his other occupations with Tool and Puscifer. Howerdel also explained that they can’t do anything right now since Keenan is out with Puscifer. Still, he hopes they will get together soon after when it doesn’t interfere with Keenan’s schedule.

When asked about their plans for a new Perfect Circle album or tour, Billy Howerdel replied:

“Yeah, for sure. It comes down for me to see, Okay, when is the window in Maynard’s schedule? He plans out far. He has to be organized. He’s got three bands and a winery like a food empire he started. He’s a busy guy, and I’m there when he’s ready if it’s not interfering with this tour or this album cycle. You know, we’ll get there. But he’s out with Puscifer right now. They were just next to us in rehearsal. We’re going to see him in a few days. So he’s out working hard with that. He’s a busy bee.”

Maynard James Keenan has been currently touring with Puscifer across the United States. The tour kicked off on June 9 in Las Vegas and is scheduled to end on July 10 in Seattle.
