What Can David Lee Roth Fans Do With Their KISS Tickets Now

The ongoing debate between David Lee Roth and KISS’ Gene Simmons has resulted in disappointment for some fans. After the recent news, some people who bought tickets to see David Lee Roth opening for KISS don’t know what to do now.

Back in 2020, before the global pandemic, David Lee Roth was announced as the opening act of KISS’ End Of The Road tour. However, as a result of the pandemic, the band rescheduled the tour dates for 2021. This week, on August 18, the much-anticipated tour kicked off, but David Lee Roth was nowhere to be found. Although some of the fans bought the concert tickets expecting to see DLR on the stage, they were greeted by David Garibaldi instead.

The Details Of The Feud Between Gene Simmons And David Lee Roth

KISS bassist Gene Simmons recently revealed that David Lee Roth will not be supporting the band during their farewell tour. Simmons announced the news during a conversation with Rolling Stone and made some controversial remarks. He said that DLR used to be the ultimate frontman, but then something happened to him. Simmons then compared Roth to Elvis, saying that his current state is like a ‘bloated naked Elvis on the bathroom floor.’

Simmons’ remarks about Diamond Dave were:

“It bears noting that during Dave’s heyday, nobody did what he did. He was the ultimate frontman. Not Robert Plant, not Rod Stewart, nobody. He took being a frontman way beyond anything. And then, I don’t know what happened to him… something.

And you get modern-day Dave. I prefer to remember Elvis Presley in his prime. Sneering lips, back in Memphis, you know, doing all that. I don’t want to think of bloated naked Elvis on the bathroom floor.

Following that, David Lee Roth responded to the insulting comments by Gene Simmons by sending 18 middle fingers via his Instagram. Recently, Paul Stanley also revealed his thoughts on the feud and praised the iconic Van Halen singer saying that he is still Diamond Dave.

What Are The Fans Going To Do Now?

As some fans really wanted to see David Lee Roth as the opening act for KISS, they felt pretty disappointed upon hearing the news. In a recent tweet, podcaster Eddie Trunk brought this issue to the forefront. He stated that there is still no real explanation why the fans are watching a painter instead of the Van Halen singer.

Eddie Trunk’s tweet read:

“Still, no real explanation why fans who bought and held tickets expecting to see the singer of Van Halen on the bill are instead seeing a painter.”

Eddie Trunk’s tweet attracted great attention, and fans revealed their thoughts as a response to the podcaster. For instance, one fan agreed with Trunk and said he didn’t pay for concert tickets to watch a painter. After that, he claimed there is no need to get to the concert early now.

The fan said:

“Exactly! He’s a great painter but I didn’t pay for concert tickets to watch a painter. Plus we already saw him open for KISS twice last time out in Chicago and Milwaukee. No need to get there early.

Moreover, some fans claimed that the reason behind this decision was related to financial concerns. Some of them also expressed their disappointment over the decision to include a painter as the opening act rather than a music performance. As seen through the replies, most of the fans are not pleased with the result. However, it appears there is nothing to be done as the feud between DLR and Gene Simmons won’t be easily resolved.
