Placebo’s Brian Molko Likely To Face Criminal Charges For Defamation

The Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, has filed a lawsuit against the Placebo frontman Brian Molko. Giorgia Meloni has taken this action due to Molko’s comments during the band’s performance in Turin last month.

During the show, the frontman slammed the prime minister by calling her fascist, racist, and a piece of sh*t. The frontman has been under investigation for his comments and was suspected of insulting state institutions. The band also encountered political resistance to their August 1 dated performance in Sassari.

Videos of the moment were shared on social media, soon after which Molko was under investigation. NME reported that representatives of Molko have chosen not to provide any additional comments at this moment. Additionally, Meloni has not publicly commented on Molko’s words or the lawsuit.

In Italy, individuals may face a fine of up to €5,000 if they defame the government, parliament, courts, or army.
