Paul Stanley’s Response To Rumors About KISS’ Homosexuality

From Robert Johnson allegedly selling his soul to the ‘big mystery‘ behind Elliott Smith’s passing, rumors and rock seem intertwined.

KISS’ Paul Stanley also had his fair share of gossip following him into his life as a rocker, though one particular rumor seems persistent not to leave him alone.

Rumors about Stanley’s sexual orientation seemed to have busied fans and the public for decades, so much so that the singer finally had to respond to this hearsay in 2015 while chatting with broadcaster Robert Scott. He said:

“If I were gay, I’d be proud to be whatever I am. As long as you’re a good person, sexual orientation and stuff like that is totally irrelevant.”

Still, although he found ‘stuff like that totally irrelevant,’ the frontman still continued by explaining why there was no way that he was ‘gay:’

“That being said, besides having four children; honestly, I never saw a guy where I said, ‘Gee, that’s a close second to a woman.’ I never looked and said, ‘You know, if I can’t have that girl over there, I’m taking the bloke,’ you know what I mean? So that’s always been really interesting, that some people can’t find a way to take my comfort with sexuality to misreading it as something it’s not.”

Stanley then also stated how he couldn’t understand the origins of such rumors:

“I more scratch my head at that. So that’s [rumors about his alleged homosexuality] always been something that was and is, persistent. And I just kind of go, ‘Well, the boys may not understand, but the women always did.’ They got it in more ways than one.”

Although Stanley seemed to be an ‘ally’ with the LGBTQ+ community, saying ‘sexuality didn’t matter if you were a good person,’ the singer’s controversial words about gender-affirmative parenting and the transsexual community received major backlash.

In the end, Stanley had to apologize for his comments, as he backtracked from his earlier criticism, though there was one rocker who stood by the KISS singer’s words and supported his controversial statements.
