Oasis icon Noel Gallagher recently spoke to Gibson TV about his equipment and addressed how the Beatles influenced his music and his decision to use Epiphones.

In the Beatles, it was Paul McCartney who first used an Epiphone Casino. After inspecting this guitar, George Harrison and John Lennon were impressed by its playability, and thus, they also wanted one for themselves. McCartney and Lennon mainly used the Casino during their live shows and studio work throughout the band’s career.

Like the Beatles, Oasis’ Noel Gallagher is also a fan of Epiphones. While he used a wide range of guitars, pedals, and amplifiers throughout his career, Gallagher often used a cherry sunburst Epiphone Les Paul, two Epiphone Sheratons, and the Beatles’ favorite Epiphone Casino.

Recently, Epiphone teamed up with Noel Gallagher for two new signature guitars. One is the brand new Epiphone Noel Gallagher Riviera in Dark Wine Red finish, inspired by an early ’80s Riviera that appeared in Oasis’ music videos for ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ and ‘Champagne Supernova.’ The other is a replica of his 1960 ES-355.

Revealing his thoughts on this brand-new signature Epiphone Riviera, Noel Gallagher told Gibson TV that the Beatles inspired him to start playing Epiphones. Gallagher admitted he knew nothing about guitars, but Epiphones sounded and felt good. Moreover, the musician also praised the new model’s unique dark wine red color.

Here is what Noel Gallagher said about Epiphones:

“I wanted to start playing Epiphones because of the Beatles. I didn’t know anything about guitars then. They looked good; they felt good, I could make them sound good. I’m a songwriter, not a guitar player. You know, that’s my thing.

I’ve never seen that color before, [shows the Epiphone Noel Gallagher Riviera guitar] like wine red, purple, or whatever it is. I’m not one of those people who can sit in a guitar shop and play lots of things. I will literally play an E chord, and if it had sounded great and felt good, I would have just said, ‘Yeah, I’ll take it.'”
