Nikki Sixx Recalls The Cruel Condition He And Tommy Lee Had To Let A Photographer Into Their Tour Bus

Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx recently reposted a series of photos their photographer Mark Weiss shared and recalled the time they hired him to be their tour photographer. Weiss reminisced how Tommy Lee and Nikki Sixx welcomed him in the tour bus, which was a way Vince Neil and Mick Mars disapproved.

Mötley Crüe lived the rock and roll party life as hard as possible and became known as one of the craziest and most notorious bands in rock history. They are remembered as the reckless band who didn’t have any limits on or off stage, and their reputation stands still to this day.

They have now become a calmer band off stage. Some members are currently focusing on maintaining their physical health, and some are at home with their wives and kids baking brownies on a Wednesday night. However, this doesn’t mean that the world forgot about their crazy adventures. Thanks to Sixx’s autobiographies, the world knows about their dangerous but mostly funny experiences, and recently, their tour photographer recalled one.

Mark Weiss posted a few photos he took while he was on tour with the band in 1984 with Ozzy Osbourne and told the story of how he was welcomed in the tour bus by Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee. He stated that Sixx bit his leg and wouldn’t let go until it was bleeding. The game was that he had to bite Sixx back, and that is how they included him in the tour. Performing such a ritual was their thing, but Neil and Mars shook their heads as an indication of disagreement.

Here is what the caption read:

“Trüe – On January 10, 1984, Motley Crue began opening up arena shows for the Ozzy Bark at the Moon tour. I would go on the road traveling with Ozzy on his tour bus every once in a while. When I heard Motley was starting to open a leg of the tour, I made sure was there to capture the debauchery. When I saw the Crue they were glad to see me and asked if I wanted to spend a few days traveling with them on their bus. Needless to say – it was a yes! They knew how to party. It was all that you’ve read about and more.

As Nikki escorted me on the bus, Tommy was sitting in the driver’s seat and put his leg out to stop me, and then Nikki started biting my leg, with a devilish grin yelling, ‘Draw Blood!’ Vince and Mick were settled in on the bus shaking their heads. Needless to say, he drew blood from me, but in order for him to stop chopping on me, I had to do the same to him. After some numbness from Tommy pouring Jack Daniels down my throat to ease the pain, I had no choice but to follow orders. I bit Nikki back and passed – what I later found out to be their initiation. I got some of the most classic photos of the CRÜE on that trip. Here are a few.”

Sixx reposted it and jokingly stated that it was ‘Trüe.’ Even though the photographer went through a hard time at that point, he managed to get good shots and experience their rock and roll lifestyle with them. The 1980s was Crüe’s peak point in drinking, partying, and using substances. Only a couple of months after this funny event, Vince Neil crashed his car under the influence, and Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle passed away in the passenger seat.
