Nickelback Works On New Album And Support Tour For The Summer Of 2022

Nickelback bass guitarist Mike Kroeger spoke in a recent interview with Tulsa Music Stream and talked about the band’s upcoming projects.

Even though Nickelback released their last record, ‘Feed The Machine,’ back in 2017, they hadn’t embarked on any new projects since then. The band didn’t work on anything new even during the pandemic when all the tours and events got canceled, and some musicians used this time to produce new records.

In the conversation, Mike revealed that they are working on a new record and stated that they are recording in Canada. However, it has taken longer than expected because their producer needed to take time off. Furthermore, Mike pointed out that there is no strict release date for the upcoming album because they want to make it perfect and focus on every little detail instead of releasing it earlier.

Moreover, the bass guitarist revealed that they are returning to the stage in the summer of 2022, which might mean that they will release the album in late 2021 or early 2022 and promote it with a summer tour.

Mike Kroeger said on the new recording:

That is happening right now. Music is being composed and recorded up in Canada. We were out there, and something came up and our producer had to take some time off.

So I took that opportunity to to Los Angeles with family and spend a little bit of time at home. But I’ll be headed back up there in a couple of weeks to pick it up again.”

The interviewer asked:

“Is there a release date?”

To which Mike Kroeger replied:

“Release dates are primarily arrived at by business interests, like record labels and whatever. We don’t have one of those. We’ve been managing ourselves for about a year. So, the answer is no. We’re doing it on our schedule, at our own pace, and it’ll be done when it’s done.

Cause we’ve blown up deadlines in the past lots of times. Because we feel that you can make a good record and be late, but you can’t, or you shouldn’t, make a shitty record to be on time. So we won’t be pressed for time.

And in this case, we don’t have to worry about that ’cause we’re on our own schedule. We’re doing what we wanna do when we wanna do it. We’re paying for everything. Nobody can tell us what to do. We just have to decide when we wanna go on tour.

It turns out we’re booking a tour for next summer. So we’ll have to get some stuff squared away and out there to the people in advance of that.”

‘Feed The Machine’ is the latest studio album that Nickelback released, and it peaked at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200 charts. Also, it featured the singles such as ‘Song on Fire,’ ‘Must Be Nice,’ and more.
