Maynard James Keenan Mocks Will Smith And Chris Rock’s ‘Slap’ Incident

Tool and Puscifer lead singer Maynard James Keenan took his official Instagram account to mock actor Will Smith’s hitting comedian Chris Rock at last weekend’s Oscars.

During the 94th Academy Awards, the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock attracted more attention than the ceremony. Will Smith initially laughed when Rock made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. However, the actor then got angry and slapped Rock on the stage, which caused a stir on social media. Later on, Smith shared a public apology to Rock on Instagram and accepted he acted wrong.

Following the shocking moment, many celebrities shared their reactions, which gave way to a wide range of opinions on the issue. Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan also took action and reacted to the incident in his way. As you probably know, Keenan has been training Brazilian jiu-jitsu since the 1990s. He even received his brown belt, the predecessor of the highest-ranking black belt.

In his recent Instagram post, the singer uploaded a short clip taken during one of his training and jokingly demonstrated one of the techniques that ‘could have saved Chris Rock’s life.’ According to Keenan, Rock’s biggest mistake was to have his hands back. What he presented as a solution was a hand block that he described as a ‘cockblock.’ For him, Rock could have protected himself by doing that.

Here is how Keenan revealed the technique that could have saved Chris Rock:

“We are going to go over some of the techniques that could have saved Chris Rock’s life the other night, so here is what happened. First of all, he has his hands back. Here’s the solution. What we call that a cockblock. I’ll see myself out.”

Maynard James Keenan’s Instagram post read:

“I realize we’re on the ass end of beating this dead horse, but f*ck it. Greetings from my academy, Verde Valley BJJ. The first class is always free.”

Many fans gathered under his post and reacted to his solution with funny comments. While some joked about Keenan’s hosting next year’s ceremony, others wrote that he should upload more videos like this.
