Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda Shares An Embarrassing Story Involving His Wife

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda recently shared some of his favorite spots in Tokyo during his interview with The Infatuation. When he was talking about one of his restaurant picks, ‘Seryna,’ the singer remembered a ‘funny story’ about his wife. He recalled:

“I have a really funny story about this restaurant. My wife will be embarrassed, but I’ll tell you anyway. On the plane, she saw a Japanese businessman drinking this cocktail, and she asked the flight attendant what it was. She says it’s called umeshu, a plum drink, and brings one to her.”

He added:

“A few days later, we were at Seryna, and Anna [Mike’s wife] ordered the umeshu. The server’s eyes got big, and she paused before we did the rest of the order. We get our appetizers and food, but the drink shows up really late.”

After talking about it with their friend, the couple realized how funny the situation was. Mike continued:

“The next day, we mentioned it to our friend, and she started laughing hysterically. She said, ‘Well, you were at a very nice restaurant, and they certainly didn’t have it. So what happened was the server took your order, gave it to the kitchen, went down to 7/11 or something, brought it back, and made it herself.’ That is very Japanese, by the way, and also shows you a little bit about the kind of service you get at Seryna.”

Besides doing interviews about food, the musician also chats with friends. During a recent chat with his fans on Threads, Mike revealed the album the band made with ‘blood, sweat, and tears.’ He said:

“I had fun making most of the Linkin Park albums. Some were more challenging than others. ‘A Thousand Suns’ was a winding and unexpected process, but the results were some of my favorites. Lots of happy accidents + blood, sweat, and tears on that one.”
