Kanye West Breaks Silence About Ozzy Osbourne Feud
Kanye West recently took to his Instagram Story to address the controversy surrounding his unauthorized use of a Black Sabbath track, initially sparking a public dispute with Ozzy Osbourne.
The contention began when Ozzy criticized Kanye for sampling Black Sabbath’s 1983 live rendition of ‘War Pigs’ in West’s track ‘Carnival’ without obtaining prior permission. The dispute was brought to public attention after Osbourne called out West on social media, condemning his actions and labeling him an anti-Semite.
West Comments On Osbourne’s Post
In response, West shared a Halloween photo of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne dressed as him and his wife, Bianca Censori, with a message, saying:
“He obviously has a celebrity handler who’s on his account.”
In light of the dispute, at the Vultures listening party in New York, West replaced ‘Carnival’ with ‘Hell of a Life,’ which includes a legally cleared sample from Black Sabbath’s ‘Iron Man.’ Furthermore, the ‘Vultures 1’ album, launched on February 10, featured ‘Carnival’ without the contentious ‘War Pigs’ sample, opting instead for fuzzy guitar feedback.
The Osbournes’ Reaction And Legal Steps
Osbourne, upon learning about the unauthorized sample at West’s Chicago listening party, publicly denounced West’s actions, stating:
“Kanye West asked permission to sample a section of a 1983 live performance of ‘Iron Man’ from the US Festival without vocals & was refused permission because he is an anti-Semite and has caused untold heartache to many. He went ahead and used the sample anyway at his album listening party last night. I want no association with this man!”
Sharon also told Billboard the following about the issue:
“The simple thing is, we don’t want to be associated with a hater. To spread hate the way he does, it shouldn’t be allowed. All the excuses — he’s bipolar or whatever — doesn’t change that. It’s like, f*ck you, basically.”
She also reflected on her Jewish heritage and expressed a personal level of concern and involvement, indicating that legal actions, including a cease and desist letter, had been initiated against West’s use of the music. She hinted at the possibility of further action if the situation remains unresolved.
