Justin Hawkins Addresses David Coverdale Losing His Voice

The Darkness lead singer Justin Hawkins recently made a YouTube video on his channel Justin Hawkins Rides Again about whether David Coverdale‘s current performance is as bad as it is said or not.

Prominent rock musicians like Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, and many others are still performing even as they approach the age most people will consider retiring. They have all had very influential careers that have lasted since the ’60s and ’70s. There is no need to say that they worked very hard to stay in good shape and healthy to perform in front of crowds.

Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale has also been in the rock music scene for nearly five decades. The 70-year-old singer takes the business of being in music very seriously. He has worked hard to stay in shape for all these years to deliver consistent performances to the audience coming to see him. In his recent video, Justin Hawkins shared his opinions on Coverdale’s current shape based on one of his friend’s comments.

The Darkness singer stated that one of his friends recently went to see Whitesnake, but they left since they found David Coverdale’s performance poor. Then, Hawkins opened a video from one of his shows this month and said that, of course, it is not as same as it was, yet that’s very normal for him considering Coverdale’s age. Hawkins is aware of the problems related to his performance but thinks it is still the best for a 70-year-old singer who has been using his voice that well for years. The frontman considers Coverdale’s performance good enough, and his band sounds fantastic.

Justin Hawkins’ comments on David Coverdale’s recent performance:

“It’s not the same as it was to quote the great Harry Styles, but why the f*ck would anybody expect it to be as it was. He is not doing something that everybody can do. He’s a foot fully on the gas kind of singer, and after these many years of doing that, this is the best you’re going to get.”

Hawkins continued:

He’s lost a bit of power. It is the farewell tour, and I think this is most probably why. But when he gets a run-up to a note and had a little break, and there has been a bit of amazing guitar playing, he comes in, ‘I’m tired of hiding my feelings.’ That line there is like it doesn’t kick ass as much as it used to be, but he’s kicking enough ass for tonight, but he’s got to be. His f*cking band sounds amazing. It is hilarious. It really is like they sound like 1987 Whitesnake. That sounds proper. The singing is not as great as it used to be.”
