John 5 Tells ‘A Great Story’ To Flash Rockstar Lifestyle Of Ron Wood From The Rolling Stones

Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 opened up about the time when he met The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood for the first time which includes an interesting story in addition to revealing the time when he went to a Rush concert for the first time with every detail during a recent interview.
As many of you might know, Slash put up a cover band together to play three shows with various guests back in 2009 such as Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne, and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell, and many more.
The line-up also included John 5 and apparently, he has a quite unique story about the time when he was on his way back home from the show in Oslo, Norway. While they were all in the plane, Slash, Ozzy Osbourne, and Fergie waiting for the plane to take off, they all noticed that Ronnie Wood was not on the plane.
While there all were waiting for him to come, John 5 saw Ronnie Wood coming from the walkway with a clear garbage bag filled with cigarettes in addition to a cigarette in his mouth. Seemingly, Wood impressed John 5 As he was walking down with his young girlfriend and the two hanged out for a couple of days.
Here is what John 5 said:
“Yes, I have a great Ron Wood story. I was playing the show with Slash called Slash & Friends, and we were in Norway in Oslo, and it was Slash, Ozzy, Fergie, myself, Ron Wood... And so we’re all on this plane, and we’re like, you know, ‘Why are we sitting here for so long?’ And I noticed everybody else was on the plane, but Ron Wood’s not there.
So we’re just waiting, waiting, waiting… ‘Where’s Ronnie?’ And here he comes, and I remember looking up at the airplane window, you could see the walkway, and it was one of those clear walkways, so you could see people walking.
And here comes Ron Wood with a cigarette in his mouth and a clear garbage bag – huge – full of cigarettes, and I was like, ‘How rock ‘n’ roll is that?’ He’s walking down and he’s got his young girlfriend, it was so rock ‘n’ roll. And he’s like, ‘Sorry, mates,’ and he sits on the plane. And then I had the room right next to him. We just hung out for a few days, and it was just amazing.”
In addition to this, John 5 also revealed the first time when he saw Rush during the recent interview with The Eddie Trunk Podcast, clearly, he went to a Rush concert for the first time for the ‘Signals Tour’ and he wore tour’s shirt in his school picture when he was only 12 years old.
John 5 revealed that he was amazed by the concert and it sounded exactly like the record which inspired him to do the same. In addition to this, he praised Rush in every aspect he could by stating that they were unbelievable while they are playing live.
Here is what he said:
“I loved Rush – my first album was ‘A Farewell to Kings,’ I loved Rush very much, but I was too young to go see them. I remember when they were coming to town. But my first time seeing Rush was on the ‘Signals’ tour – I wore my ‘Signals’ tour shirt in my school picture, so I was 12 years old, I took my school picture and I was wearing my Signals tour shirt.
But I remember how amazing it sounded – because I knew every song on the album. ‘Chemistry,’ ‘Digital Man,’ ‘Losing It’ and everything. It sounded exactly like the record, and I was like, ‘Woah! If I ever play a concert, I want it to sound just like the record’ – because I loved it.
When you’re a kid, you know every drum fill, every guitar lick, and every lyric, and that’s important to a kid. I mean, improv is very important, but it’s just like if you have a piece of music of Mozart, you’re like, ‘Well, I’m gonna throw in some licks on top of those Mozart.’ You just don’t do that, so I really loved how Rush is live, it’s just unbelievable.”
