Jeff Young Clarifies Whether He Actually Hit On Dave Mustaine’s Fiancé

Jeff Young sat down with Metal Edge and talked about his Megadeth times and responded to the prolonged allegations about he made advances towards Dave Mustaine’s then fiancé. Young said:

“It never happened. But these are the bullsh*t lies that have been spread repeatedly. To this day, Megadeth’s fans look at me weirdly. And to be honest, I don’t really appreciate it.”

He also criticised Mustaine’s behaviours and musician persona:

“I think we all know people who are both narcissistic and insecure at the same time. Dave has never been the type to want to share the glory. My time in the band was basically witnessing a giant power trip.”

Jeff Young contributed to Megadeth’s 1988 album ‘So Far, So Good… So What!’ as soon as he joined the band, and toured with them. In a separate interview, he also made harsh criticisms about Mustaine while mentioning their only album together:

“It just promotes – and that’s [Mustaine’s] whole mission: just to promote disinformation and lies. And the funny thing is he aims that song ‘Liar’ [the penultimate track from ‘So Far, So Good… So What!’] at other people, and he needs to look in the mirror, man. Because the stuff you say and the songs you write you’re writing about yourself.”

Jeff Young is currently in Kings of Trash with former Megadeth bassist David Ellofson. In March, they released a collection of their live performances. You can listen to ‘Best of the West’ below.
