In an interview with New York’s Q104.3 radio station, KISS bassist Gene Simmons shared some details about their new documentary, ‘Biography: KISStory,’ and he also revealed the secret behind his health even though he is 71 years old.

KISS’ new documentary ‘Biography: KISStory’ will be premiered on A&E in the US on June 27 and June 28 from 9 to 11 pm ET/PT. The four-hour length movie is based on 50 years of KISS as one of the most successful rock bands. Gene Simmons recently talked about the history of the band which was full of fame and glory the embodiment of the American dream.

Simmons also shared exclusive details of his personal life by giving the reason how he managed to remain healthy regardless of his age. Gene stated that he is still in good shape even though KISS members decided to quit touring because of their age factor. He admitted that the stage performances of KISS are too hard for him anymore. However, he regarded his current health status as better than most of his peers in the music industry.

During his appearance on the show, the KISS bassist revealed the secret behind his health although he is 71 years old by saying that he has never been drunk and high or smoked. Simmons stated that it was a personal decision which was also a tribute to his mother, who was a Nazi concentration camp survivor. Gene mentioned that he always stayed away from alcohol, cigarette, and drugs because living a long and healthy life was very important for him thanks to his mother.

In Simmons words, he said:

“I’m no different, by the way. Even though I’ve never been high or drunk in my life — literally — or smoked cigarettes, which is why, at 71, I can hold my hand in front of my face and it doesn’t shake, because I’ve never used the stuff. As a personal choice, and as an homage to my mother, who survived Nazi Germany as a 14-year-old daughter, I know without her here, I would have veered to the dark side.”
