In a recent Instagram post, Elton John has posted a nostalgic photograph of him together with Princess Diana and revealed that he is missing the princess dearly.
As is known, Elton John and Princess Diana were really close friends back in the days. They first met in 1981, at the birthday party of Prince Andrew where Elton John was performing and they became friends later on. According to John, that day the pair danced to Charleston for nearly 20 minutes. However, they became at odds when Princess Diana refused to write the foreword for the book ‘Rock And Royalty’ that John was working on. They then reconciled after Diana has reached out to John, and attended Versace’s funeral where Diana comforted him.
The pair lost contact until the death of Princess Diana in 1997 due to a car crash, and John performed a rewritten version of his ‘Candle In The Wind’ at her funeral. After that, the song has become a best-seller and stayed at number one for 14 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100.
It is known that the 1st of July is the birthday of Princess Diana, the famous royal figure who is also loved by the public, and if she lived, she would be 60 years old today. A larger-than-life statue of Princess Diana is unveiled recently on her birthday and Elton John, who has also funded it, will attend an upcoming ceremony in September.
According to his Instagram post which was also posted on Diana’s birthday, Elton John revealed that he misses the Princess’s laughter and her boundless, beautiful heart. He attached a nostalgic picture of them together to the post as well.
