Dee Snider Reacts To Dolly Parton’s Decision To Withdraw From Rock Hall Nomination

Dolly Parton was nominated for this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. However, she recently withdrew from the nomination giving her reasons in an Instagram post, and Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider appreciated her opinions in a tweet he posted on Twitter.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gave the voters a tough decision by nominating 17 musicians instead of the usual 15. This year, the nominees are Duran Duran, A Tribe Called Quest, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon, Beck, Kate Bush, and Judas Priest. As made apparent, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not just appreciating the rock genre but has become an award to show appreciation for all industry genres.

‘Jolene’ singer and country music star Dolly Parton was also nominated this year. However, she decided to withdraw from the nomination for the sake of authenticity as Dolly doesn’t think she deserves the award because she never made a rock album and made space for other rockstars to claim their place. This move was very much appreciated by rock and roll musicians, and Dee Snider showed his appreciation.

Snider stated in a recent tweet that Parton is excellent, and it’s very mind-blowing that she accepted that she isn’t a rock singer, so she shouldn’t be nominated in the first place. Dee noted that he loved how she didn’t want to take any other rockstar’s rights from them by being present and dividing up the votes.

Here is how Parton announced her withdrawal:

“Dolly Here! Even though I am extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.

I do hope that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will understand and be willing to consider me again – if I’m ever worthy. This has, however, inspired me to put out a hopefully great rock ’n’ roll album at some point in the future, which I have always wanted to do! My husband is a total rock ’n’ roll freak and has always encouraged me to do one. I wish all of the nominees good luck, and thank you again for the compliment. Rock on!”

Dee Snider replied:

“Well, Dolly Parton just blew my mind. Recognizing she is (amazing but) not rock ‘n’ roll, she has turned down her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nomination! She doesn’t want to take recognition away from an actual rock artist! Thank You, Miss Parton!”
